South West Model Engineering Exhibition

Well the first model show of the 2010 season has already come and gone! The AHA roadshow attended the increasingly popular South West Model Engineering, Model Making and Hobbies Exhibition at the Royal Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset on Saturday and Sunday 17th & 18th April. The weather was unusually fantastic for the whole weekend which saw record numbers of visitors (10,000+) streaming through the gates to see a vast array of different modelling displays and exhibitors.
The AHA not only had a stand near the flightline we also had 4 demonstration slots per day which saw some of our best pilots showing all that's good in our sport. Denis Stretton, Dave Fisher, Steve Roberts, Martin Briggs and Roger Mayo were putting their machines through some manouvres that are typical of the competition disciplines that we represent. Eddie Oliver was in attendance to give some commentary during our display which made ours stand out from all the other displays during the day. In fact Eddie had been approached several times during the day to give commentary to other displays, but he knows where his bread is buttered!!!
The stand was busy on both days and whilst fund-raising was an uphill battle at times, a great deal of promoting of our great sport was being done. A massive vote of thanks goes to all the members of the AHA who gave up their spare time to help out on the stand, THANK YOU ALL.
All in all a fantastic weekend and we would like to thank everyone at SWMEE in particular Operations Manager, Emma Crane and Flighline Director, Bob Mahoney without whos sterling efforts none of this would have been possible. Look forward to seeing you in 2011 guys, thank you for a great weekend.
